MacRumors says that Apple is aware of the ghost touch issue and is “investigating” the same.

The Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2 are Apple’s latest smartwatches available to consumers and were launched alongside the iPhone 15 series back in September last year. While the watches were well-received, lately, a few users have voiced concerns about a potential “ghost touch” issue affecting some Series 9 and Ultra 2 watches.

As reported by MacRumors, Apple is said to be aware of the issue and could be “investigating” the same, as shared in a memo observed by Apple Authorized Service Providers and reported by the publication.

“Some customers may report their Apple Watch Series 9 or Apple Watch Ultra 2 is experiencing false touches on their display,” Apple was quoted as saying in the alleged memo, seen by MacRumors. These touches are reportedly being called “ghost” touches by the users.

Furthermore, the report adds that Apple users also describe their Apple Watches as “jumping erratically” and performing oddly, without any user input at all. This may even extend to the Apple Watch auto-dealing contacts and troubling users to add the device passcode to unlock it.

MacRumors further added that Apple recommends keeping the software up to date, suggesting that the issue may be resolved through a forthcoming WatchOS update.

Currently, it is unclear how soon affected users can expect the update and how widespread the problem really is. However, in the meantime, Apple has allegedly asked repair partners not to address these issues until it completes its investigation.
